Securitize has successfully raised a strategic investment round led by BlackRock. Hamilton Lane, ParaFi Capital, and Tradeweb Markets joined the round, demonstrating the high confidence in Securitize's innovative approach to the digital securities market.

BlackRock's Strategic Alignment

This investment is strategically aligned with a recent initiative by BlackRock, as Securitize was selected as the transfer agent for BlackRock's pioneering tokenized fund on a public blockchain.

Joseph Chalom, recently appointed Global Head of Strategic Ecosystem Partnerships at BlackRock, will join Securitize's Board of Directors and bring his wealth of experience to the company.

Securitize plans to use the financing to drive further innovation, expand its global reach, and build on existing partnerships in the financial services ecosystem. The move aims to cement Securitize's leadership in digital asset-based securities while continuing to pioneer the digitization of the market using blockchain technology.

Insights From Industry Leaders

  • Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, emphasized the potential of blockchain in reforming finance, confirming the company's commitment to leading this evolution.

  • Joseph Chalom of BlackRock emphasized that this investment aligns with its broader strategy of harnessing the transformative potential of tokenization in the capital markets.

  • Juan Delgado, co-chairman of Hamilton Lane, emphasized the role of token-based technologies in expanding access to the private market.

Launch of the BlackRock Tokenized Fund

At the same time as this strategic investment, BlackRock launched its first Ethereum-based tokenized fund, the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL). This fund maintains a stable value of $1 per token, with daily dividends paid directly to investors' wallets. It offers 24/7 token transfer between approved participants or the ability to exchange for USDC via Circle smart contracts.
